After upgrading from my Yeti to the MV7, the difference is day-and-night. The USB sound alone is phenomenal. Even so, I bit the bullet and purchased a Scarlett Solo interface to compliment the MV7 - it was worth every dime.
If you're like me and you're wanting an upgrade from a sensitive condenser mic, the MV7 is perfect. If you're a content creator, gamer, podcaster, streamer or do voice overs, I'd dare call the MV7 perfect. It feels and sounds premium, which nearly justifies its price tag.
However, it's not all rainbows and sunshine. For some reason, the MV7 uses a micro-USB connection, and includes both USB-A and USB-C conversion cables to connect to a device. It's almost an insult that it includes a micro-USB to USB-C cable - an acknowledgement of today's USB standards as Shure proceeds to use micro-USB nonetheless. It's a fragile, dated and inconvenient way of connecting devices.
Moreover, the MV7 has a touch panel to modify gain & volume settings. The touch panel can be extremely finicky and awkward to reach. It feels like more of a gimmick than anything. After giving the touch panel a chance, I disabled it and have stuck to the software alternative. The MV7 could've been more affordable had Shure dropped the touch panel and went with solid analog controls.
Micro-USB connections and touch panels aside, it's a fantastic mic! I'll give it 5 stars because it works well for my needs. If there were ten stars, I'd give it a 9/10, docking a star due to the micro-USB connection and unnecessary (although ambitious) touch panel

Incredible desktop audio

Bought this mic to replace a zoom H1N that I had been using as a desktop mic and I didn’t think there would be a huge difference in quality but there definitely is. I’ve used it on conference calls and in recorded videos and the sound quality is incredibly crisp and clear with a little more low-end to my nasally voice.
On the down side, the mic is pretty big if you’re not used to a studio mic (which I wasn’t). It’s bigger than a can of soda. I ended up having to buy a new mic mount from Amazon to hang the mic over my monitor because having it sit on my desk or on a low profile mount was too cumbersome. I’m also not a huge fan of the touch controls at all, it’s too easy to hit mute or something else just by moving the mic. That said, these issues are minor and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the MV7 again.

Works like a treat

Works like a treat and has a pretty on-mic interface for letting you know if you are peaking or too quiet. The mute button is a bit awkwardly placed when using a boom arm, as you kind of have to wedge your finger between the bracket to reach it. The back is large enough to grab for adjustments if you change your posture and want to keep it near your face. The choice of cables to connect with are very generous compared to most manufacturers. Best sells the Scarlett audio interfaces for relatively low price if you want to connect via an XLR cable.

Great microphone with good sibilance attenuation

So far so good. I have tested this microphone for both music and spoken content. I’m very satisfied with the soft sibilance I get from it, which tends to be a huge problem for me with other microphones. While I wish the companion app had more presets to choose from, the three it provides (dark, natural and bright) have subtle nuances that makes them serviceable for many situations. The only downside is, as mentioned by many people, the decision to use micro USB. I hope it will not break for several years, which is typical for micro USB. Also, it’s worth noting the app it’s not compatible with USB-C iPads; you will have to pre-choose your settings on your computer. It also works perfectly with PS5 (I use it with Discord on PS5 for gaming sessions).

Amazing sound quality! Had many different microphones more expensive and less expensive but this one is my favorite. Very clear sounding for gaming or just everyday business or making videos online. Highly impress with one don’t see how you could find someone wrong with it!

Hands down best mic for the price. I used it for a week with USB connection sounded amazing. I upgrade from a Blue Yeti and you can tell the difference. A week later i upgrade to the XLR setup........needless to say it got even better. Happy with purcahse!
A:Hello! The MV7's included foam screen will also protect from unwanted plosives (acting as its own pop filter). The product includes 1 - Micro-B to USB-C Cable (10ft) and 1 - Micro-B to USB-A Cable (10ft). The MV7 is also compatible with our (free) desktop app for additional configuration of the microphone's audio.
Thank You!
A:While they look similar, they are a bit different. Primarily, this mic offers a USB connection that makes it super versatile. You also have XLR and onboard monitor out. Overall mic does a great job with vocals and noise cancellation. Very good for voice/podcast recording. Shure software makes overall adjustments very simple for presence and tone.
If you are looking for higher-end quality that made sm7b famous, you may want to stick with that and deal with the complexity of connecting and adjusting to your needs. If you want a simple and convenient option that works really well and sets up directly with your computer, this is a good option, I’m happy with this model.
A:Hi - The MV7 has two separate options for connection, a USB or a standard XLR. The standard XLR connection would require an interface for computers and laptops to convert the analog into a digital audio signal. Using the USB option requires no interface and is compatible with a Shure provided free desktop app to either automatically or manually configure the microphone audio to your needs.
Thank you!
A:Hello! The MV7 comes with its own foam cover reducing the amount of unwanted pops and plosives. It's also compatible with a free App (Windows/Mac /iOS /Android) that can further configure the audio to your situation (either automatically or manually).
Thank You!
